Derek is a third generation builder/remodeler. He learned the construction trade on Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Marthas Vineyard in Massachusetts working with his older brothers until he had enough experience to become a licensed General Contractor in Massachusetts and started his own company. The primary focuses for his company were additions, remodeling, structural repairs, and antique home restoration. After having enough of cold and wet New England weather, Derek moved to Southwest Florida, became a Florida Certified General Contractor, and opened Lighthouse Building & Remodeling. Because of growing up and working on islands, he was immediately drawn to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Derek is proud to call Southwest Florida home and is honored to be able to focus his business here.
